I love that there is a day to celebrate just being happy!
As many of you know choosing to be happy is not always easy, when there are life struggles and stresses, relationship problems and mounting debts, it can be hard to stay focused on the good.
Many years ago I went through some very difficult times.
I had separated from my husband whilst seven months pregnant.
When my youngest was born she was extremely poorly and spent the first 48 hours of her life in a critical condition. At this point my world felt like it was crumbling around me, it would have been so easy to give up the fight then.
But actually this was where I found my strength.
At that moment I realised that I had a choice!
I could choose to give up or I could choose to be grateful for all the blessings in my life!
It was never easy, it still isn't some days, but I will always choose gratitude and happiness over sadness and despair.
You know the saying the glass is either half full or half empty...... well even if its half empty, you still have water!! Some places in the world don't even have that!
If we could all try to start our days with a little bit of gratitude and make a decision to choose happiness.
Never allow someone or something steal your joy.
And pay it forward..... share your time, talents and dreams with others, tell someone you love them!
Buy a stranger a coffee, give something to charity all of these things will lift your mood and probably make someone else's day.
